Mapga Beginnings
From Idea to Creation
Here at MAPGA, we have noticed our AP students at local CFISD senior high schools are suffering from a lack of representation in the GPA scale. They expect that by taking advanced college courses, there is a substantial amount of risk associated with their decision, as well as potentially tremendous benefits. By working hours on end daily, AP students risk potentially lower GPAs than students taking much less strenuous K-level classes, which are weighted at a 7.0 for the highest level of academic achievement. This, however, is where the problem lies. K-level classes do not have the same complexity and difficulty as many AP classes, but are weighted the same on the grade scale to artificially restrain more diligent students from the rest of the student body. Committed to investing our time and resources in order to achieve a solution, we are dedicated to our goal of making intellectually superior students more represented amongst the vast ocean of average individuals. Since 2018, we've been gathering data from our community members in a variety of ways and measuring our success not by monetary size, but by more qualitative measurements such as the scale and effectiveness of our efforts. Just imagine what we can achieve together!
